About this Project

The Municipality has invested in community wells in each of our seven districts. Each location dispenses drinking water from accessible public access taps that will allow residents to safely obtain potable water when needed. This solution is more sustainable and less costly than the water coupon program (program costs exceeded $100,000 in 2025).

Water will be frequently tested and all sites currently meet or exceeds federal drinking water standards. Specialized taps are installed to prevent accidental water waste and discourage bulk water collection, ensuring that the wells remain available for their intended purpose of supporting residents. Taps dispense 4L at a time and users are required to bring clean containers with them. The community well program will replace water coupons. Ensuring safe water containers and transportation will be the responsibility of users.

All taps will be operational starting September 1, 2026.
