Internet Projects in the Municipality of Chester

**NOTE: On December 1, 2022, Develop Nova Scotia became Build Nova Scotia.**

Develop Nova Scotia (DNS), in partnership with Internet Service Providers (ISPs), leads investment throughout Nova Scotia to provide residents, businesses, and organizations with access to high speed internet service. The mandate of DNS is that as close to 100% of Nova Scotian homes & businesses as possible will have access to minimum internet speeds of 50 Mbps download/10 Mbps upload for wired connections, and 25 Mbps download/5Mbps upload for wireless connections with a demonstrated plan to reach 50 Mbps.

DNS has awarded several high speed internet projects to Bell in the Municipality of the District of Chester. Details about these projects, whether completed or underway, are included in the Internet Project Summaries tab below.

If your property is outside of these project areas and has limited or no access to high speed internet service that does not meet the DNS minimum internet service speeds, please contact the Municipality at jmeakin@chester.ca or Develop Nova Scotia directly at info@developns.ca.

    Project scope: Bell/Develop Nova Scotia New Scope Expansion Project - wired network service to additional civic addresses throughout Nova Scotia, including the following communities in our Municipality: Aldersville, Chester Grant, East Chester, and Martins Point.
    Status: The civic addresses included in these communities are expansions to original phase 2 or phase 3 projects and will be completed at the same time as those original project areas.   • Eastlink-DNS Scope Expansion - Borgels Point
    Project scope: Eastlink/Develop Nova Scotia Scope Expansion Project - wired network service to additional civic addresses in Borgles Point.

  • DNS Satellite Internet Service Rebate Program
    Project scope: Develop Nova Scotia Satellite Internet Service Rebate Program - satellite internet service, currently through Starlink only, for civic addresses throughout the Municipality of Chester with no other planned internet service solution OR homes and businesses that currently don’t have access to high-speed internet. This includes those in a current project area, not yet complete.. Note: this is a rebate program provided by Develop NS to cover the one-time costs for eligible homes and businesses to set-up satellite internet, including hardware, taxes, shipping and installation, up to a maximum of $1,000.

    Notes: As of October 20, 2021 Bell notes: There are currently a total of 140 DNS-Bell Phase 2/3 projects in Nova Scotia. “Chester Surround” is priority 51 on the list of projects and is still on schedule. Most of the Bell engineering is completed for this project and NSPI is currently determining ‘Make Ready’ requirements.
