The Municipality of Chester owns and operates six wastewater treatment systems and facilities. They are located in:
Service is currently being expanded or upgraded in several of those areas as we move towards more climate resilient infrastructure, systems that are adequate for future needs, and managing our assets responsibly.
Improving our aging central sewer systems is an ongoing part of our 5-year Capital Investment Plan and is a big part of Council's Strategic Priorities. Read more about our wastewater systems below.
The Municipality of Chester is investing $14 million in a modern wastewater treatment plant that will service residents and businesses in the Chester Basin area. We will use an enclosed and modular wastewater treatment technology that can grow with our community.
This plant is currently under construction at the existing wastewater treatment plant site. Construction will include an upgrade of the lift stations on Mallard Lane and Pig Loop Road with communication systems monitored at the new plant.
A new upgrade at the current location will expand the treatment capability to 40 equivalent homes with allowance for a further 40 homes.
The Municipality is currently investigating plant improvements and lift station upgrades in this area.
